The difference between Class 4 MOT and Class 7 MOT is pretty straightforward. A Class 4 MOT is the most common for all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of less than three Tons (3000 kg). A Class 7 MOT is for vehicles weighing between three tons and three and half tons (3,001kg and 3,500kg.)
The maximum charge allowed for class 7 (over 3,000kg up to 3,500kg design gross weight) MOT tests is £58.60.

Your motorhome or camper van will require an MOT test every year if over 3 years old, just like any other vehicle.
If Your Vehicle is between 3001kg and 3500kg, you will require a class 7 MOT.
A habitation check is not required before you can drive or use your vehicle (unlike an MOT, which you need before you can drive it.)
A motorhome habitation check is not legally required by law but may be required by your motorhome insurance company or warranty provider.
If the vehicle is hired out for reward then certain aspects of the habitation checks are required by law, such as the maintenance of the onboard gas and electrical systems.
